Relaxation Massage

Full-body massage at a lighter, steadier pressure — for stress, sleep, and general tension, with nothing you have to work through.

About Service

Relaxation massage is the straightforward version: full-body, flowing strokes, steady moderate pressure, and no part of it that you have to grit your teeth through. It is the right choice when the goal is to unwind rather than to fix one specific thing.

What Relaxation Massage Is

The therapist works across the whole body in a continuous rhythm, using long strokes, kneading, and light compression. Pressure stays in a comfortable range. The point is to give your nervous system an hour to downshift, which is something most people do not otherwise schedule.

Who It Suits

It is a good fit if you are carrying general stress rather than a specific injury, if sleep has been poor, if you are new to massage and unsure what you will tolerate, or if you simply want an hour that is not about problem-solving. It is also a reasonable choice on a week when deep work would be too much.

How It Differs From Deep Tissue

Deep tissue stays on one area and works into it. Relaxation massage keeps moving and stays lighter. Neither is better, they answer different questions. Both happen within the same 60-minute appointment, so if you are not sure which you want, say what you are hoping to feel like afterward and Jaylene will steer you.

Alongside Chiropractic Care

Muscle guarding is often a stress response as much as a mechanical one. Patients under chiropractic care sometimes find that a relaxation session between adjustments helps them stay loose, particularly during a stretch of long hours or poor sleep.

Who Provides Relaxation Massage

Relaxation sessions at Heaps of Relief are provided by Jaylene, a licensed massage therapist trained in deep tissue, therapeutic, and relaxation massage, cupping, CBD massage, and Rapid Tension Release, with continuing education in prenatal massage, kinesiology, and orthopedic pediatric massage.

Booking and What a Session Involves

There is one massage appointment to book: a 60-minute session with Jaylene. Relaxation work is one of the ways she can use that hour, so you do not pick a style when you book. The session opens with a short conversation about pressure preferences and any areas to avoid, then runs in a quiet room. You stay draped throughout and only the area being worked on is uncovered. Speak up any time about pressure, temperature, or music. None of it is fixed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is relaxation massage the same as Swedish massage?

Essentially, yes. Swedish is the traditional name for the technique set most relaxation massage uses.

Will it help with a specific injury?

Not directly. If you have one area you need addressed, ask Jaylene for therapeutic or deep tissue work at the start of your session instead.

Do I have to undress fully?

No. You undress only to your comfort level, and you stay draped for the whole session regardless.

Will I be sore afterward?

Rarely. Relaxation massage stays at a pressure that does not usually leave tenderness.

Is this a good first massage?

Yes. If you have never had one and do not know what you will like, this is the easiest place to start. Book the 60-minute session and say so when you arrive.
